Below is a list of current projects in the SRL.  If you are interested in being a participant in any of our studies please contact the project coordinator listed for that study. 

Social Cognitive Processing and Personality

Description: Research involves computerized social-cognitive tasks and personality questionnaires.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years old or older
  • Columbia Student

Participate and receive course credit or $12 for up to 1 1/2 hours.

This study is being conducted under the supervision of Professor Geraldine Downey and Christopher Crew.

 

 
Major Depressive Disorder Study

Description:  Interested in participating in a study about personality disorders and earn up to $230. 

Eligibility Requirements: 

  • Eligibility is determined in a brief telephone screening, followed by an initial interview at our lab.
  • You may be eligible to participate in this research study if you are at least 18 years old and suffer from symptoms of Major Depressive Disorder (unipolar type).
  • Adults with a current diagnosis of either Borderline Personality Disorder or Avoidant Personality Disorder (a severe form of Social Anxiety Disorder/Social Phobia) may also be eligible to participate.

This research study approved by the Institutional Review Board of Columbia University. Note: It is not a treatment study.

 

 
Studying Habits Study

Description:  Participate in a study about studying habits and receive $10 for a hour study.

Eligibility Requirements:

This study is being conducted under the supervision of Professor Geraldine Downey.
